General update It's fricking HOT here. This heat wave is breaking temperature records and everything. I haven't ridden for the last four days because it's just too hot to move; I barely have the energy to clean Jackson's stall. The power went out at work for about an hour on Thursday probably from all the increased energy demand for A/C. Our townhouse is actually too warm upstairs even though it's almost always too cold in here, although the downstairs stays cool no matter what. Unfortunately both bedrooms are upstairs, and the master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, so there's no good way to cool it down. We put out A/C unit in the much smaller guest room and have been sleeping in there.
When my friend and I were getting ready to leave the stable on Friday, I heard a loud screech and turned to see Duchess, the barn cat, running by with a struggling bunny in her mouth. We followed her into the barn where she had dropped it; apparently it was still alive enough to run and hide. We caught it behind some feed bins and were going to give it to our office lady since she likes to take in needy wildlife, but she wasn't home. I took the bunny home and figured I'd bring it to her the next day, assuming it survived the night. It was alive early the next morning, but when I was ready to leave later I found it had died. =( The cat must have landed a good bite, in which case it had no chance to begin with; we'd been hoping maybe she'd just grabbed it but didn't break the skin, since we couldn't find any fang marks. Poor little thing.
Saturday night Josh and I went to see Iron Man. I was hesistant, although I'd heard nothing but good things about it. I didn't know what it was about really other than some comic book movie, which for the most part I am not a fan of (like the Spiderman movies? Ugh). I didn't know what the Iron Man comic was or what it was about; from the little I'd seen of it I thought it looked sort of like Robocop. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was actually a very entertaining action movie! I love action movies. It had a lot of amusing parts as well, which was cool, because I didn't expect it to be funny. Robert Downey Jr. also turned out to be a great actor, another surprise to me because the only thing I knew about him is that he's some drug addict who's been in and out of jail a lot; I'd never seen him in anything before. I'm now looking forward to the sequel. The next movie on our list is Indiana Jones; I just seriously hope George Lucas didn't fuck up another great movie legacy like he did with Star Wars.
The movie turned out to be pretty long, so I didn't get much sleep last night before going to work early this morning. It was hot and awful, but at least that meant we weren't busy. And we were having a vaulting show, so there was something to watch. Also, there was a lady from a magazine called Horse Connection there who was doing an article on wine and horses, so she came to a pretty appropriate place considering we're both a stable and vineyard. Anyway, she wanted to get some pictures of someone riding by a plaque we have next to one of the barns (I've never read it, actually...I think it says something about the history of the farm maybe). All the other staff were already out on trail rides, so I agreed to do it. I jumped on our most "photogenic" (i.e. spooky; his ears are always pricked forward!) horse and posed for a few pictures. Don't know if they'll use any of them, but she said she'd let me know if they did. So maybe I'll be in a magazine, haha. Later in the day she came back again to talk to us and took a few notes. I'm curious to see what she writes. |

On Vox: The short of it. Miyavi's pretty damn entertaining! He completely took me by surprise. I want to take his tap dancer (yes, he had a tap dancer on stage) home in my pocket. Perhaps I'll write "The long of it." re: the show tomorrow.

Back from Reno Way too tired to post about it now, I've been on the road since about 12:30 this afternoon, I just want to take a bath and then collapse. However, the convention was very cool, and pics and story will follow probably tomorrow. Gibran Baydoun FTW! If you don't know who he is, that's fine. But in 10 or 15 years, you might say "Hey, isn't he that guy Joshuaaaaaa mentioned way back when?" Current Mood: exhaustedCurrent Music: None |

Awesome AMV... Mainly because of the music that's in it.
It a pretty cool anime, even though the movie and TV series are complete opposites. The movie is a comedy and the TV series is a drama/action with a twisted (but good) ending. Anyways, I think I've lallygagged long enough and starting tomorrow will be working on Z costumes! xD Current Mood: determinedCurrent Music: Vanessa Mae - Can Can |

Heat wave... It's not even June, I don't get this hot weather. Sigh. Today B came over with some lunch and we watched a bit of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai since he only sees it when he's here. It was good that he came over, distracted me from all the noise and people outside. Since last night been listening to random bits of JRock to help drown out the noise. Every year they have a parade and concerts and who knows what else, which is all fine, but this year the noise level was way above anything I've heard before. So glad no more drunken arguements out in the street at 1 am in the morning, no more blasting disco music, thank you. Watched all of Zombie Loan this weekend and episode 7 of Code Geass. Hate to say it but it was a little predictable. And I know they may have explained it before, but none of the students remember Nunnally? Except for Rolo, Lulu and Suzaku of course. So they put the voodoo on everyone? Seems a bit out there to me. But it's not a plot point or anything, just one of those things that stood out. After B left I did a little cleaning and spent time sorting doll clothing, so very soon will have some things here. Also finished editing photos that I started last night. Trying to get things done, focus on important things. Finally have them uploaded so here's a few photos from Yoyogi Park in Harajuku. Current Mood: busy |

Weee! Survived Bay to Breakers with the 501'st Garrison today (barely). Yes, that's we-did-a-seven-and-a-half-mile-road-race-w ith-stormtroopers day. Luckily, the weather made a sudden change and was perfect (even maybe a touch cold) for almost the entire race except Hayes Street Hill (of course). Did it quite a bit faster, but not willingly. Next year, something different I think. FYI, this is crazy san francisco race, with lots of costumes, alcohlol, and nudity. After lots of scientific observation, I determined the following: If you are naked, no matter how fit you are, your butt jiggles when you run. It is Not. Attractive. didn't help much that most of the naked people were not fit, and usually hairy. Current Mood: I HURT ALL OVER |

Cynthia Ann July 9th, 1938 - May 17th 2008 I know I said I was back, but I lied :( My mom passed away yesterday. She broke her femur in a fall a month ago, but she's been checking out these past 6 months. I think the day she stopped yelling at the nursing care center (I got an email from my brother last week she'd finally stopped) was probably when her body finally started shutting down. She had a stroke nearly twenty years ago, I've been mourning the loss of my "mommy" for a long time. She as a mad, crazy old lady and it was by sheer stubborness that she made it this long. And independently too. I feel like this is more a note to all my internet loved ones who haven't seen much of me recently. Hugs to all, I think about drinky-poos and dolly tea parties all the time... just can't quite muster the will. The garden has gotten all my attention this spring, and I can't apologize for that! So much love to all, and especially to my Mother. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ |

biggus maximus favorus Can anyone going to Fanime do me a HUGE favor? I need someone to win this auction and have the item shipped to their Fanime hotel.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160239954021&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006
I can paypal you immediately or give you cash at the convention.
For whatever reason this lady blocked me from bidding on all of her auctions after I sent a message inquiring after express shipping. She has "people" ship her packages three times a week, so I figure if it's sent via USPS priority it will definitely arrive by Saturday at the convention.
So... halp?   D:ILU, intaglio_ink!!!! |

Update on my life This weekend I did nothing. That's right, nothing. Well, nothing in the way of work anyway. I slept through early evenings and woke up in early mornings. Saturday I took my entire staff out for lunch and game cards at Dave & Buster's. Well, the ones that could make it. The ones that couldn't will get their gifts in due time. My company hit last year's sales volume in early April. So fuck you, recession. Reality never bothered me before and I'm not letting it start now. Today I bought Rock Band and Bioshock because my roommate bought an XBox 360. Rock Band is a lot of fun but the XBox guitar controller demands MUCH more accuracy than the PS2 version and that means no 400 note combos, long hammer-on sequences, or you know...FUN while playing lead guitar in Rock Band. So what if our band is Utena and the Revolutionaries? I miss my Rochester friends terribly. It was the right decision to get some real rest in April and postpone my trip exactly 3 months. July 23rd I will fly up and get to see jilliko, netbard, Mink and Tex...and some others dear to me who don't keep livejournals. I still teach but those two months off are coming. It will be a good chance to build up the company. September will be very tough, as will all the months until June again. It's almost time to create a solid business plan. -Fanboy Oh, I turn 30 in like...18 days. |

L'hiver est printemps ( Household miscellany, spring flowers, text. )The Gods Are Thirsty was five-hundred-four pages of brilliant narrative, cut with ten or so pages of convoluted purple prose. I most certainly enjoyed the read, and the sense of completion which has followed, incremental pages over the weeks. Several more books on the list, now, but they will have wait, as I do believe I'll be entertaining a visitor for the next ten days. ♥ And distraction attended to, finals are calling. Joy upon... |

ACen-FUU!!! Two large Giordano's pizza eaten.
1017 photos taken.
Two gatherings personally organized and photographed.
One cinnamon crumb muffin from Corner Bakery eaten while waiting for flight home.
My Chicago/ACen experience is COMPLETE.
(I'd promise a more detailed report later, but seeing as how I have to figure out how to finish preparations for a large event at Fanime, that would be a promise unfulfilled~)

Music Of My Heart Dear Mustard,How did my night go? JEREMIAH: "That's okay. For me, there are a lot more fish in the sea." REY-REY: "If you can find the fish."YouTube time! Ha ha ha ha ha. Only because I think this is hilarious. MV031: Give Me A Shake by MAXI want to know the evil soul that introduced me to this song. I know that either Beerman or/and Kie put this song back in my mind. But I knew I heard it before a long, long time ago. Who was it?! Oh, well. It doesn't matter. Give me, give me shake is one of the catchiest hooks ever. I mean, come on! GIVE ME, GIVE ME SHAKE!And, yes, I'm aware that Lionel loves MAX. By the way, I hope he's hangin' in there. I read about his condition. Anyway, what is this post about?! I am SO going to regret this but ( save me, Chas)... ...as of late, friends have been telling me to give certain musical artists a shot. So I'm going to let them rain on this one. Whether it's... * Karrie with Blackalicious. * Holland with Lyrics Born. * Shadz with Arashi. * Katie, Kie, Michi (if I didn't put her name she said that she would kick me), and Gertrude with anything Hello! Project. * Sarah with anything J-Rock. * Tim with anything Sharpay Evans. * Loy with anything Hannah Montana. ( EDIT @ 12:52 A.M.: Air is getting me into some Angela Aki. Good stuff.) ... suggest any other music that I should listen to. Contrary to popular belief, I can listen to anything. ANYTHING. As long as it is good music (does anyone listen to country?). I prefer that people leave YouTube videos. This way, I'll be forced to listen to 'em instead of going out of my way to look for 'em. I go out of my way to look for a lot of stuff as is. So people can SPAM all the YouTube videos they want in this post. Or, hell, any post... but I'd prefer it to be this one so it can be a lot more organized. Let's see who can hypnotize Rey-Rey the best here. Besides her. needs more music, Current Mood: goodCurrent Music: Give Me A Shake by MAX |

I'd like one order of boobs, please I had a wildly unsuccessful trip to Twin Falls today. End result: Aries will not be worn unless I can find a white, pink, or nude bustier. Attention ladiesDoes anyone have a bustier (34 B or C) that I can borrow at Fanime? or Would anyone be willing to include a quick stop into a lingerie store on their last minute fabric district excursion? I desperately miss my proximity to the fabric district, where a perfect bustier can be purchased for $15-$25.   ;_; Soon... ----- edit - I'm in serious WTF mode right now. Last night I found a really good bustier that is similar to what I've found in the fabric district, asked the seller a question about express shipping, went to bid this morning and founnd out I've been blocked from bidding on that seller's listings (all of them, not just that one). WHAT? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160239576225&ssPageName=h:h:alt:3Damnit, even if I couldn't get it sent express I was just going to have it sent to the hotel. wtf, lady?
